The Eagles legend started retirement with a bang
After 13 grueling seasons playing in the trenches for the Philadelphia Eagles and putting his body on the line every week, Jason Kelce retired from the NFL on Monday.
Naturally, the first thing he did in his newfound retirement was put himself right back in direct physical danger. Travis Kelce nearly keeled over with laughter watching his big brother throw caution to the wind and leap onto a burning table in a daring social media stunt.
Decked out in a fire suit and supervised by firemen, Jason climbed onto the side of a fire truck, where he would jump off and split the flaming table in two.
Why did Jason Kelce jump through a flaming table?
The 36-year-old Kelce made a promise to Buffalo Bills fans on his podcast with Travis, New Heights. The New York NFL franchise, who Travis’ Kansas City Chiefs knocked out of the NFL playoffs, won a contest conducted by their chart-topping podcast that sought to decide the best team name in the NFL.
Bills Mafia showed out in the voting process, winning the best name contest and earning a promise from Kelce to jump through the flaming table, which has become a signature move at Buffalo’s rowdy pregame tailgates.
Jason had endeared himself to Bills Mafia at the Chiefs-Bills playoff game by partying at their tailgates at Highmark Stadium, even though he was there to cheer on Kansas City. He chugged beers, took shots out of a bowling ball and famously jumped out of his suite shirtless, but the table jump evaded him.
“I was hoping I was going to get an opportunity and it just didn’t arrive. Maybe next time. Next time, Buffalo. I was wishing. No tables though,” he recounted on the New Heights Podcast after the playoff game.
Clearly they didn’t have to twist the former Eagles center’s arm too much to keep his promise
